Some of the key events Tuesday in the O.J. Simpson murder trial:

* SUMMARY: Detective Tom Lange, the lead investigator in the Simpson case, spent all day on the witness stand. In other business, Superior Court Judge Lance A. Ito ordered a potentially important defense witness, Rosa Lopez, to be in court Friday.

* WITNESS: Detective Tom Lange, LAPD veteran homicide investigator: Lange told jurors why four officers went to Simpson’s house to notify him of the death of his ex-wife, explained why authorities believe that Nicole Simpson was the first victim of the double homicide and admitted that under ideal circumstances, the coroner’s office would have been called to the scene more quickly.

* COMING UP: Lange returns to the stand today. He is expected to be followed by Brian (Kato) Kaelin, Simpson’s guest-house tenant.
