UC Irvine Women Top Santa Barbara

UC Irvine upset Big West Conference-leader UC Santa Barbara, 79-61, in a women’s basketball game Friday at the Bren Events Center.

The Anteaters’ victory snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Gauchos, dating back to Feb. 18, 1989, and set a school record for most conference victories in a season with 11.

Allah-mi Basheer and Jinelle Williams each scored 20 points for UCI (14-9, 11-5).
