SCECorp. to Build Generating Plant: Southern California-based SCECorp. will invest about $110.6 million to build a power plant in Western Australia, British Petroleum said. The plant will be fed by gas and steam from BP’s nearby oil refinery and gas field. Mission Energy Co., a unit of Rosemead-based SCECorp., is funding all of the development of the plant, BP said. The plant will produce 116 megawatts of electricity, of which 40 megawatts will be bought by BP to power its oil refinery. The remaining electricity will be fed into the Western Australian state power grid. Construction of the plant is scheduled to begin in June, with initial operations to begin in November, 1996.
