Ventura resident Beatrice Chernin Pollack, a former New York fashion model and designer, has died. She was 76.

Pollack, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., was first a runway model and then a clothing designer during her 30-year career. Before retiring in 1978, she designed clothes for such lines as Wentworth and Lady Bug, according to her daughter, Susan Pollack of Ventura.

“She was a very feisty, beautiful person who loved life,” Pollack said. “We will miss her greatly.”
