Countywide : Parent Help Offers Free Support Groups

Parent Help USA will offer a series of free support groups focusing on positive parenting and prevention of domestic violence and child abuse.

The groups will be offered in Anaheim and Newport Beach on Wednesday evenings and in Newport Beach on Tuesday evenings, starting this week and running through June.

Topics will include child discipline and conflict resolution without violence; anger and stress management and rage control; self-esteem and assertive communication; challenges of single parenting and blended families; realistic expectations of child development; strains of divorce and preventing them from leading to child abuse.

Parent Help USA is a nonprofit organization founded by Mothers and Others Against Child Abuse.

The group has provided anti-abuse counseling in Orange County since 1986.

Support groups will be offered from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at the Orange County headquarters of Parent Help USA, 417 31st St., Newport Beach; and on Wednesdays at that office and the office of family counselor Joseph Lamon, 2660 Woodland Drive, Anaheim.

Participants may make donations, but the service is offered free. Registration is by appointment.
