Share

The parent company of Huntington Memorial Hospital is buying Glendora Community Hospital.

The 142-bed facility will open as Huntington East Valley Hospital after the sale is completed in April.

The parent company, Southern California Healthcare Systems, also owns Methodist Hospital of Southern California in Arcadia. Methodist and Huntington are both nonprofit hospitals; Glendora Community is a for-profit hospital that will be switched to nonprofit after the sale, according to a company statement.

Each affiliate hospital maintains a separate board, medical staff and foundation or trust but shares corporate staff and systemwide clinical programs.

The purchase price of Glendora Community Hospital was not disclosed. The hospital is owned by GlenComm Limited, a partnership of some of the hospital’s physicians and other investors.

Total capacity of the system will exceed 1,000 beds. The three hospitals’ combined staff includes more than 1,400 physicians.
