Indian Police Deploy to Prevent Trek in the Nude

BANGALORE, India —
More than 1,500 police officers stood guard in a southern Indian village Tuesday to prevent 3,000 Hindu pilgrims from carrying out a centuries-old tradition of trekking to a hilltop temple in the nude.
Police sealed entry to Chandragutti, 240 miles northwest of Bangalore, where a weeklong Hindu festival dedicated to the goddess Renukamba began Tuesday.
