Telemundo, the troubled Spanish-language television network, has replaced Chief Executive Joaquin Blaya with Roland A. Hernandez, it was announced Thursday.

Miami-based Telemundo, which only recently emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, has been plagued by declining ratings. In a statement, the company said Blaya will continue to serve as a consultant.

Hernandez, 37, a Los Angeles native, has been a director of the company since 1989 and one of Telemundo’s largest shareholders. He is the founder of Interspan Communication, which established Telemundo affiliate KFWD-TV in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.
