Sampras, Agassi to Play Davis Cup Against Italy
The U.S. Davis Cup team assembled its own Dream Team, as No. 1 Pete Sampras and No. 2 Andre Agassi announced Thursday night they will play against Italy later this month.
The second-round matches will be played March 31-April 2 at Palermo on clay. Both the surface and the schedule have made it particularly difficult for captain Tom Gullikson to secure player commitments.
The doubles team is also ranked No. 1 in the world. Jared Palmer and Richey Reneberg, the Australian Open champions, played and won in the last U.S. Davis Cup match.
