Israel ended its monthlong fishing blockade along Lebanon’s southern coast Friday, but tank barrages and mock air raids kept tensions high in the region.

Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri credited Secretary of State Warren Christopher with helping end the naval blockade that has deprived hundreds of Lebanese families of their livelihood.

Israel Army Radio reported that Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin decided to end the ban in a gesture to Christopher.
