USC’s Spring Football Practice Opens With Focus on Quarterback Battle

Share

USC’s anticipated 1995 quarterback battle begins today in spring football practice, with junior Brad Otton and senior Kyle Wachholtz launching their campaigns for the starter’s job.

John Robinson, in his third season back at USC, will have Keyshawn Johnson at wide receiver and six other offensive starters and seven defensive starters returning from last season.

The Trojans were 8-3-1 last season and defeated Texas Tech, 55-14, in the Cotton Bowl.

The 6-foot-6 Otton, who will be a junior in the fall, played well at midseason last year when starter Rob Johnson was injured. Wachholtz, a 6-5 senior, played well as a backup in his freshman and sophomore seasons but was academically ineligible last season.
