When I was a boy in Amsterdam during the German occupation, information and propaganda came in the form of entertainment, with films shown in school, the theater or radio broadcasts. We Boy Scouts were looked down on by the kids who had joined the German organization Hitler Youth. They could carry beautiful daggers, and we Scouts weren’t even allowed to have pocket knives. I remember how, gradually, everything we had learned to be right was shown to be wrong; eventually all Scout activities were prohibited. School chums were brainwashed to believe that the Hitler Jugend ways were right. Many became dangerous bullies; some even turned in their parents for having an illegal radio--never to see them again, yet believing they had done the right thing.

Today, in the best of times in a free society, a small group of individuals with lots of money but with a warped sense of responsibilities and values, has a controlling influence on our young people. They are brainwashing them with “Pulp Fiction” to accept that excessive foul language, drug abuse, sodomy, infidelity and mass killings are not abnormal. Worse, many of our great film critics acclaim this film.
