Senior Volunteers Sought to Aid Police

Share

Seniors 60 and older are being sought by the Police Department to join its Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP) program.

Volunteers for the program are expected to donate at least four hours per week to helping police fight crime. Their duties include taking over administrative work such as filing records, conducting home security checks and providing crowd control at special events so that officers can spend more time in the field enforcing laws, police said.

RSVP officers are provided uniforms but do not carry weapons and are not allowed to arrest people.
