Chrysler, Safety Agency Near Minivan Agreement: The auto maker may soon announce a deal with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that would allow Chrysler to replace the latches on as many as 4 million minivans without admitting that the rear gates tend to fail in crashes, according to a report by the Detroit Free Press. Chrysler spokeswoman Terri Houtman said the auto maker is still discussing a possible agreement with the NHTSA. It would involve Dodge Caravans, Plymouth Voyagers and Chrysler Town & Country minivans in the 1984-94 model years.
