British Fraud Team Helps Singapore on Barings: The Serious Fraud Office said investigators are aiding Singapore authorities in their effort to extradite Nicholas W. Leeson from Frankfurt, Germany, where the dealer blamed for bringing down Barings merchant bank has been held since March 2. The agency said it is also providing assistance in deciding whether Leeson broke the law in Britain. Three British investigators traveled to Singapore this week to meet with officials from Singapore’s Commercial Affairs Department, which is looking into Barings’ collapse under trading losses. However, according to legal sources, Britain is unlikely to interfere in Singapore’s extradition efforts.
