WEST ADAMS : Building Begins on Group Home

Construction has begun for Gramercy Court, a group home for single mothers and children, at Washington Boulevard and Fourth Avenue.
The two-story facility will feature retail space as well as 16 residential units, community room, family learning and child care center, rooftop deck and courtyard offices. The outdoor space will include a landscaped play area, fountain and community garden.
The learning center will provide residential support services such as parenting classes and individual and group counseling.
Renovation of the original structure, built in 1923, is being sponsored by the nonprofit Gramercy Group Homes, which purchased the property in 1993, backed by $1.2 millionin public and privated donations.
