DOWNTOWN : 3 Fined for Selling Counterfeit Clothing
Three Downtown businessmen must pay fines and serve on a graffiti removal crew after pleading no contest last week to charges of selling counterfeit goods from a garment district business.
The men were ordered to forfeit $240,327 worth of bogus Dooney & Bourke, Louis Vuitton and Chanel merchandise confiscated Sept. 1 by police from a business at 1045 S. Sante St. The counterfeit items, which included purses, belts, sweat shirts and jackets, will be destroyed.
The case began when National Trademark Investigations, a private agency hired by major trademark holders, tipped the Los Angeles Police Department’s Bunco-Forgery Division to the operation.
A judge ordered Kyung Tae Kim, 34, the business owner, to pay $4,200 in fines. The judge also ordered Soon Ae Min, 41, a manager, to pay $1,810 in fines and Sang Ho Han, 38, a salesman, to pay $1,310.
