A Riverside man died early Saturday in an auto accident in which he was ejected and then run over by a car, police said. The drivers of both vehicles were later arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

The victim, Mark Ward, 21, was the passenger in a compact sedan driven by Alberto Arellano, 20, of Santa Ana. The two men were heading east from South Coast Plaza onto Town Center Drive when another car traveling south on Bristol Street broadsided their vehicle, Officer Steve Rautus said.

Ward was pronounced dead at the scene about 3 a.m., the officer said.

Both drivers, Arellano and David Hill, 25, of Pasadena, were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, Rautus said. Each was being held in the Costa Mesa city jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
