VENTURA : City to Hire Adviser for Project Property

Share

Sitting as the Redevelopment Agency, the Ventura City Council has approved hiring a consultant to study how best to combine several downtown parcels so a developer can build a multiplex theater and retail complex.

The council voted unanimously Monday night to spend up to $50,000 for the study, which will be performed by Tavis-Bolton & Associates of Ventura.

The agreement calls for Tavis-Bolton to appraise a series of downtown parcels around Main and Palm streets, where Burbank- and Pasadena-based developers have proposed a multiscreen movie theater and specialty retail shops.

City officials said they need help determining the best way to acquire the privately owned lots, which the Redevelopment Agency would resell to the developers.
