Constraints on Teen-Agers May Not Be a Bad Thing

Share

* Regarding the March 13 article “Youths Struggle in Land of Many Rules”: A point the writer of the article points out, but seems unwilling to admit, is perhaps the “. . . overly conservative Christians,’ and the “ . . . Antelope Valley officials and fundamentalist preachers” ensure our valley “remains a safe haven.”

As far as our valley’s leaders wanting to declare war on juvenile dissoluteness--it does not sound like the worst thing in the world to want to do away with “looseness of manners and morals; excessive indulgence in pleasure,” as my dictionary describes dissoluteness , in our teens.

If the constraints Antelope Valley officials put on teens prevent some of our young from being victims of drive-by shootings, gang wars and drugs, so be it.
