ANAHEIM : Volunteers Needed to Help Paint Homes

Share

Volunteers are being sought to help transform homes for disabled or elderly Anaheim residents during the fifth annual “Paint Your Heart Out, Anaheim.”

Since its inception, the program has been responsible for refurbishing 156 homes across the city. The plan for this year’s event, set for May 6, is to work on about three dozen houses, said Keith Oleson, program chairman.

“We are looking for volunteers who want to make an immediate difference for an elderly resident and for their neighborhood,” Oleson said. “With hundreds of people working all over Anaheim, on one day we can make a real impact.”

Before painting their respective houses, volunteers will be asked to do preliminary work April 22. That involves cleaning up the yard, trimming bushes, scraping peeling paint and priming bare wood.

Volunteers will be assigned a team captain and will work in groups of 15 to 20. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and be invited to a thank-you party at Anaheim Stadium, followed by a free baseball game with tickets provided by the California Angels.
