Share

Ventura police have recovered a stolen moving van and most of its contents after residents of El Medio Street wondered why their neighbors were unloading it at 6:30 a.m. and putting some of the items into pickups.

Police discovered the abandoned vehicle in a field near Ventura Avenue and Canada Larga on Tuesday. They found about 80% of the contents--worth an estimated $80,000--when they served a warrant at a house in the 200 block of El Medio Street.

No one was in the house and police said they are looking for at least two suspects in the case.

The semi-trailer had last been seen at the Town and Country Movers lot on Palma Drive. It was stolen April 8.

It contained the belongings of two military families in the process of moving.

The Naval Investigative Service is working to track down the families of Dolores Blue of Port Hueneme and Reginald Graf of Mountain View in Northern California to tell them the fate of their belongings.
