THOUSAND OAKS : Widower Gives Car to Ailing Therapist
When Thousand Oaks therapist Larry Jones got cancer and founded a nonprofit counseling center, he modified his lifestyle, replacing his Acura with a rented Hyundai.
Now, a man whose wife died of cancer a month ago has given Jones his late spouse’s 1989 Honda Accord. He requested anonymity.
“We were ecstatic,” Jones said. “We were just overwhelmed, to be honest with you.”
The car has a sunroof and an automatic transmission.
“It’s in excellent shape,” Jones said. “It’s just a godsend.”
Jones plans to undergo a bone-marrow transplant next month in an attempt to cure his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
