Deadline Near for 2 LAUSD Programs
The deadline to apply for a special busing program or for magnet programs offered by the Los Angeles Unified School District in the upcoming school year is Monday, April 17.
Parents who wish to enroll their children in either magnet schools or the Permits With Transportation busing program must fill out and mail in the application form provided on the back of the “Choices 1995-96” brochure that was sent home with every student in the school district.
The applications must be received or postmarked by April 17.
District officials said they are expecting about 40,000 applications to be turned in for the 11,000 openings expected in the magnet program.
Students already in the magnet program or in the Permits With Transportation program do not need to reapply unless they want to go to a different school.
All students enrolled in kindergarten through 11th grade are eligible to apply as long as they live within the school district’s boundaries, district officials said.
