Today is the deadline for filing federal income tax returns and extension requests.

Taxpayers received two extra days this year because the traditional deadline, April 15, fell on a Saturday. Nevertheless, millions of procrastinators are expected to crowd post offices to make sure their returns are postmarked before midnight.

The U.S. Postal Service has arranged festivities for people making the trek to post offices to beat or meet the deadline.

For $1, taxpayers in Santa Rosa, Calif., can throw a pie in the face of an IRS agent. Proceeds benefit the family of a slain deputy sheriff.
