Police believe the bloodied body of a young man found at the end of an isolated street near a strawberry patch early Sunday is the city’s second homicide victim of the year.

Irvine Police Sgt. Dick Bowman said the unidentified victim had visible injuries to the head and body. The body was found at the edge of Sand Canyon Avenue, where it ends near the San Diego Freeway.

Bowman said officers were called to the roadway at 8:27 a.m. after receiving calls about a man who was down or possibly sleeping at the edge of the street.

The man was 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighed 128 pounds and was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans. His black hair was shaved on the sides and long on top.
