GLENDALE : Annual ‘Kid Print’ Planned by Hospital

Share

Free fingerprinting and handprinting for children will be offered through the emergency department of Glendale Adventist Medical Center.

“Kid Print,” sponsored annually by the hospital, is part of an effort to prevent kidnaping and also to supply parents with the necessary information that authorities would need if their child was missing.

Parents can bring their children to the hospital, 1509 Wilson Terrace, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 to have them fingerprinted or handprinted and photographed.

The hospital will provide parents with a list of safety tips to prevent kidnaping, such as teaching children not to talk to strangers and not letting the child wear clothing that has his or her name displayed prominently on it.

Jeanette Abundis, administrative director of the emergency department, said “Kid Print” provides services for about 200 children each year.

Abundis said she hopes that the event will not only give parents adequate documentation of their children, but also provide the opportunity to discuss safety concerns with them.

There will be volunteers who can speak English, Spanish and Armenian at the event.
