Spyros Benetatos and his suspected assailant, Ioannis Markevits, a foreign language teacher, were killed by a grenade similar to those used by Greek guerrilla groups. Keramidas said police were still investigating the case, but all indications pointed away from a political crime. He said evidence suggested that Markevits had been involved with Benetatos’ former wife.
