Odd Priorities

It was with some amusement that I read the article concerning the Physicians for Social Responsibility and their demonstration against “assault weapons” in front of Congressman Cox’s Newport Beach office (“Group Stages Vigil Against GOP Gun Bill,” April 13).

Given the state of medical malfeasance the press has reported, shouldn’t these med students be in school, learning the difference between left and right feet, or how to read a Pap smear, or how leaving for a hair appointment in the middle of a difficult labor may not be in the best interest of the child? And why don’t I see them demonstrating in front of gay bathhouses, where the scourge of AIDS was unleashed upon society, or bemoaning the 50,000-plus deaths a year some watchdog groups attribute to malpractice?

Seems they are rather selective in the cases they’re willing to take. Sounds like they’ve already selected their specialty, self-serving political correctness. Physicians, heal thyselves.
