Theory, Reality Don’t Match

Share

In Maria C. Iacobo’s article on L.A. traffic (“And Parking’s a Snap on Melrose,” Palm Latitudes, March 12), she quotes experts who claim that traffic is getting better, not worse. One, USC urban planner James Moore, says that we “repeat the idea that traffic is bad again and again without any scientific literature to back it up.” Well, does experience count? Why is it that I used to make it home from UCLA in 20 minutes, even at rush hour, and now it takes 30 to 40 minutes at best? How does one define “getting better”?
