SAN FRANCISCO--Get your thumb green in shape for spring at the San Francisco Landscape Garden Show, April 26-30 at Fort Mason Center. Themed “Garden Party,” the show offers designer gardens, speakers, horticultural exhibits and kids’ activities. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily, except Friday to 9 p.m. $10, general; $8, seniors over 65; free for those under 12. SAN LUIS OBISPO--The canvases are asphalt at the I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. April 29-30. Masterpieces created in colorful chalk cover the courtyard in Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa (Broad and Monterey streets) and the adjacent streets. Live music and an Italian market also featured. PETALUMA--”From the Ranch to the River” is the theme of the 14th annual Butter and Egg Days celebration, April 29 in the downtown area. The parade is at noon; live music is offered all day in Putnam Plaza, and Earth Day activities are 2-5:30 p.m. in Walnut Park. Stick around on Sunday for the Petaluma Outdoor Antique Faire, with more than 215 booths, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Kentucky and 4th streets. Free. (707) 762-2793.

VENTURA--The California Beach Party ’95 pays tribute to the ‘50s and ‘60s with festivities along the beachfront promenade, April 29-30. Live entertainment, a classic car show and lots of Elvises are featured 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. CALISTOGA--The Calistoga May Fest, noon-8 p.m. May 7, pairs German cuisine with Spaten Beer from Munich and beers from the Napa Valley Brewing Co. The Internationals and the Pretzel Benders provide May Fest dance music. At the fairgrounds. Tickets in advance: $8 each or two for $15. $10 at the gate; $5 for kids 3-12.
