‘Cool Runnings’

Bobsledding is not exactly the first thing anyone would associate with Jamaica, but it’s precisely that unlikely combination that fuels this 1993 winner, a sweet-natured, high-spirited comedy. It celebrates genuine sportsmanship, placing the emphasis back on how the game is played instead of a winning-is-everything philosophy. The film, which takes its title from a Jamaican expression meaning peaceful journey, was inspired by an actual incident. With Leon Derice, Rawle D. Lewis, Malik Yoba and Doug E.
