Bobsledding is not exactly the first thing anyone would associate with Jamaica, but it’s precisely that unlikely combination that fuels this 1993 winner, a sweet-natured, high-spirited comedy. It celebrates genuine sportsmanship, placing the emphasis back on how the game is played instead of a winning-is-everything philosophy. The film, which takes its title from a Jamaican expression meaning peaceful journey, was inspired by an actual incident. With Leon Derice, Rawle D. Lewis, Malik Yoba and Doug E. Doug, from left, and the late John Candy. Directed by Jon Turteltaub and produced by former Columbia production head Dawn Steel, who knows a thing or two about winning and losing (Disney Sunday at 7 p.m., Monday at 3 a.m., Saturday at 9 p.m.).
