World IN BRIEF : ARMENIA : 80th Anniversary of Expulsion Marked

Armenians from around the world converged on Yerevan, the capital, to mark the 80th anniversary of a mass expulsion of Armenians from Turkey. Christian Armenia says 1.5 million of its people were killed in the 1915 massacre by Turks, while Turkey says this version is grossly exaggerated. Armenian President Levon A. Ter-Petrosyan said it is incumbent on Armenia and Turkey to arrange mutually advantageous trade and economic links and overcome their historic standoff.
