CAIRO : Terrorism on Table
The Egyptian government hosts the ninth United Nations Congress on Prevention of Crime and Treatment of Offenders in Cairo beginning Saturday and plans to make terrorism a top item on the agenda.
Egyptian Interior Minister Hassan Alfi told the semiofficial newspaper Al Ahram in Cairo that he will press the participants at the conference to adopt recommendations for better international cooperation in investigating the funding sources of terrorists and in extraditing suspects. Egyptian security forces are engaged in near daily exchanges of gunfire with Islamic extremists in upper Egypt.
