Whittaker Corp. of Los Angeles said it completed the purchase of a telecommunications unit of Hughes Electronics Corp. for $32.5 million. . . . Bethlehem, Pa.-based Union Pacific Corp. said its UP Rail Inc. subsidiary completed its $35-a-share cash tender for Chicago & North Western Transportation Co. and now controls more than 99.47% of the stock.
