SIMI VALLEY : Council OKs AIDS Testing of Inmates

Share

Following the lead of the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, the Simi Valley City Council has agreed to allow inmates to be tested for the virus that causes AIDS.

On the advice of Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury, supervisors approved the measure in March.

Simi Valley followed suit at its Monday night meeting, endorsing a plan to test inmates when authorities are exposed to a prisoner’s blood.

Under the measure, an inmate exposed to the blood of another prisoner may also request that that person be tested.

The test results are confidential and must be verified by the Ventura County health officer.
