BRIEFLY : Students: 20 Girls Will Attend Loyola’s ‘Work Day’

Share

About 20 girls from Lennox Middle School in Inglewood will be “adopted” today by Loyola Marymount University faculty and staff for the annual “Take Our Daughters to Work Day.”

The girls, ages 11 to 14, will tour the campus, discuss career goals and have lunch with university students and staff.

“Self-esteem is something young girls need to have bolstered at these crucial ages, and paying girls some attention on a special day is good for that,” said Nancy Jabbra, associate professor and director of Women’s Studies at Loyola Marymount. “It also exposes them to the world of work and, in the case of this institution, to the world of learning.”
