Pupils Reap Rewards of Caring Teachers
Congratulations are due the third-graders at Bay Laurel Elementary School in Calabasas who, under the guidance of a caring teacher, have grasped the problem of resource conservation and are doing something effective about it (West Valley Focus, April 20).
Likewise, the scholars who achieved such notable success in the CLAS tests and their teachers also deserve recognition. It is heartening to know that innovative public education can produce such fine results.
I hesitate to compare two such successful programs, but I am willing to predict that the hands-on community involvement approach will produce the more aware, self-confident group of future voters.
