An ex-city Building and Safety Department employee was convicted Thursday of soliciting a $10,000 bribe from a Century City attorney to expedite a building permit.
John A. Kaldawi, 31, was found guilty after a non-jury trial before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carlos R. Moreno.
The Van Nuys resident faces a maximum three-year prison term when he is sentenced May 10, Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard Goul said.
Kaldawi was arrested July 29, 1993, after meeting with the attorney he tried to bribe, Goul said.
