More Companies Give CEOs Big Stock Options: An increasing number of the nation’s largest corporations granted their chief executives hefty stock options in 1994, and the median size of the options was double that of the previous year, according to a survey by Pasadena-based Compensation Resource Group. The survey found that 40 of the 100 largest companies granted their CEOs options of 100,000 shares or more in 1994, compared to 28 companies in 1993. In addition, the median stock option grant was 98,670 shares in 1994, up from 50,000 shares in 1993. Companies are granting large stock options in an attempt to link CEO pay to performance, Compensation Resource Group said.
