Fishermen and navy frogmen found six more bodies Wednesday, bringing to 45 the number of people killed in a ferry fire. At least 31 people are still missing, maritime officials said.

More than 200 passengers and crew members are believed to have been on the Viva Antipolo when the engine caught fire Tuesday shortly after midnight near Lucena City, 60 miles southeast of Manila. Some survivors say as many as 300 people were on the wooden-hulled ferry.

In the panic, many passengers jumped overboard without life jackets. Others died in the fire, rescuers said.
