BRIEFLY : Religion: Zeldin to Celebrate 50th Year as Rabbi
Isaiah Zeldin, founding rabbi of the Stephen S. Wise Temple, will celebrate his 50th year as a rabbi at an honorary dinner on Sunday.
Zeldin, who founded the temple in 1963, moved from New York to Los Angeles in 1953. His focus as a spiritual leader has been to promote education to increase Jewish identity within the community.
“We must transmit a quality education and a positive Jewish identity to our kids in a Jewish environment,” said the 74-year-old rabbi.
