Sinn Fein’s Adams Isn’t Welcome

Share

The Irish Republican Army, an international terrorist group, is responsible for the deaths of innumerable innocent civilian men, women and children in both Northern Ireland and the British mainland during the past 25 years. Their bombs have exploded in shopping centers in Belfast, London and Manchester.

Now Gerry Adams, the leader of their political wing the Sinn Fein, is welcomed by residents of Orange County as part of a three-week tour that will end with a stop at the White House later this month.

Adams, the would-be statesman, only a few days ago refused to acknowledge the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of V.E. Day because he said that World War II was an “imperialist adventure.” What an insult to the millions of American and Allied servicemen and women who fought and died during that terrible conflict to keep the world (including Ireland) free.

Americans who welcome one of the leaders of the IRA should ask themselves how they would feel if the British prime minister were to welcome the perpetrators of the Oklahoma City bombing to 10 Downing Street, his official residence in London.

There isn’t any difference between them and the IRA. They are both terrorist groups and they both believe that their cause justifies the means.
