Ecology: Poster Contest in Schools
Kindergarten and elementary school children may enter a county-sponsored environmental calendar contest to promote recycling.
The entry deadline for the fourth annual Woody Woodpecker Environmental Calendar Contest, coordinated by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, is May 31.
Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are asked to draw and color a picture of Woody Woodpecker, the official recycling mascot, demonstrating how to “reduce, reuse or recycle.”
Entry forms are available at Target stores.
“The calendar contest is a creative medium by which schoolchildren can participate in countywide efforts aimed at protecting our environment,” said Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke.
