SIMI VALLEY : Board Weighs Move of District Offices
Even after closing a projected three-year, $6-million deficit, the Simi Valley school board is still considering a move to save money.
A move. Literally.
On Tuesday, the board asked a committee to study whether savings would result from relocating the district’s Cochran Street headquarters.
The Simi Valley Unified School District board voted unanimously Tuesday night to “thoroughly investigate alternative sites and the financial aspects of moving the district office.”
Lowell Schultze, the district’s acting chief business official, told the board in a written report that the study will probably be possible without spending $10,000 to appraise the property the district offices are now on. Rather, he said, the review will rely on community experts to provide information about the value of the property and the potential moving expenses.
