New Supplier: Irvine Sensors Corp. said Wednesday that a New Hampshire company has agreed to produce infrared circuit chips that will be used in the Costa Mesa company’s new circuit design. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Unitrode Corp. in Merrimack, N.H., will produce chips that will allow information to be transmitted between computers, printers, modems and other electronic devices using infrared light instead of wires.

Unitrode, which also competes with Irvine Sensors, will become the second supplier for the Costa Mesa company’s new circuit design. The name of the first supplier cannot be disclosed because of its defense-related work, said Lynn O’Mara, an Irvine Sensors spokeswoman.

Irvine Sensors executives expect to license their circuit design to other manufacturers as well, O’Mara said.
