Proposed $1 Coin

I, for one, am 100% for replacing the paper dollar with a coin. People are afraid of change. There is no way of avoiding that. Canada made this change years ago and it has been a complete success. The coin is the same size as the Susan B. Anthony dollar, but it is gold in color and has many sides instead of being round. Canada phased its paper bill out of circulation over a short period of time and the public was forced to use the coin. This is how we must do it!

Only the dollar bill will be affected. There will be minimal impact for business owners with cash registers; the coins will go in the same slot as their paper cousins did. Paper currency lasts an average of two years, where metal currency lasts an average of 20. This will not be like the Susan B. Anthony coin if the U.S. Mint does it right (like Canada’s dollar coin). And one more thing, President George Washington must be placed on the coin!
