Alice K. Badida, a retired schoolteacher, died at home in Ventura June 7. She was 74.
Badida was born March 10, 1921, in West Virginia and attended the University of Texas at Austin.
For about 22 years, Badida worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District, according to her daughter, Susanne Gadker. Badida’s specialty was corrective physical education.
She moved to Ventura in 1975, retired in 1976 and devoted herself to the pursuit of bridge. An avid player, she often played two or three times each week, Gadker said.
“She used to say that it kept her mind alert,” Gadker said.
Badida is survived by Gadker; daughter Katherine L. Kindig and son-in-law John Harper of San Jose; granddaughter Tammie Fader and husband Rob Fader of Santa Barbara; grandson William L. Batchelder of Ventura; grandson Emmett Harper of San Jose, and great-granddaughter Emma Lynn Fader of Santa Barbara. Her husbands--Roger E. Kindig and Michael Badida--both preceded her in death, Kindig in 1953 and Badida in 1977. Son-in-law Douglas Gadker of Ventura died last year.
At Badida’s request, no memorial services are planned. Arrangements were handled by Charles Carroll Funderal Home.
