Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Man Found Guilty in Slaying of Tourist
- Share via
A jury found a Miami man guilty of first-degree murder in the brutal slaying of a German tourist that caused a media sensation and helped send Florida tourism into a tailspin. The jury also convicted Leroy Rogers, 25, of strong-arm robbery in the crime. A second jury earlier reached a verdict in the case of co-defendant Anthony Williams, but it remains sealed until today. Like Rogers, Williams faces life in prison if convicted. The tourist, Berlin physical therapist Barbara Miller Jensen, was killed in April, 1993, minutes after she and her family left Miami International Airport in a rental car, became disoriented and pulled off the freeway to seek directions.
