BRE Properties Names New President and Chief Executive

BRE Properties Inc. announced the appointment of Frank C. McDowell as the company’s new president and chief executive. McDowell, 46, was also named a director of the San Francisco-based company. McDowell served previously as chairman and chief executive of Cardinal Realty in Columbus, Ohio. BRE is a self-administered equity real estate investment trust that owns and operates various commercial real estates properties in California, Arizona, Washington and Oregon.

* Shakey’s Pizza Inc. has named Dennis Mc Cart president of Shakey’s Inc. and Shakey’s International Ltd. Mc Cart was vice president of marketing and new products of the San Francisco company. Shakey’s Pizza Inc. is a subsidiary of Inno-Pacific Holdings in Singapore.

* Silicon Valley Group Inc., a leading supplier of automated wafer processing equipment for the worldwide semiconductor industry, announced the appointment of Boris Lipkin as corporate vice president. Lipkin will be responsible for directing all of the San Jose firm’s supplier relations and procurement operations.

* Thomas I. Boggs has joined Superior National Insurance Co. as senior vice president. Previously, Boggs was an assistant vice president of underwriting at Fremont Insurance Co. in Glendale. Calabasas-based Superior is a workers’ compensation underwriter.

* Kent L. Robertson, 54, has been hired as executive vice president and chief financial officer by Sunnyvale-based Genus Inc. Before joining the manufacturer of equipment used to produce computer chips, Robertson was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Pyramid Technology Corp.
